The GOLD Teen Board brings high school students together to learn about and provide compassionate end of life care to vulnerable adults.

Overview

  • Student participants meet monthly with other teens to learn about end of life issues and how we can offer compassion to vulnerable adults at the end of their lives.

  • Some conversations may involve topics about elder abuse, neglect, death, and dying.

  • Participate in advanced leadership training tied to lessons learned through the ministry of GOLD.

  • Earn community-service credit while making a difference in your community.

  • Become familiar with legal documents and information that aid in a peaceful end of life.

Application Dates

The 2025-2026 application period will close May 19, 2025.  Applications will not be considered after this time period.

Acceptance/denial letters will be virtually delivered by May 30, 2025.

2024-2025 Teen Board Schedule

Generally the 3rd Sunday of the month from 3:00 - 5:00pm (*unless otherwise noted below or decided by the Teen Board)

  • Parent Meeting August 10 at 4pm via Zoom

  • August 17, 2pm - Mandatory Opening Retreat

  • September 21st

  • October 4* – Feast of St. Francis Fundraiser

  • November 16

  • December 20* - Living Nativity

  • January 18

  • February 15

  • March – To be determined by the Teen Board

  • April 19

  • May – To be determined by the Teen Board

Program details

    • Members must attend the mandatory retreat on August 17, 2025 at 2pm

    • Members must attend meetings and participate in Feast of St. Francis on October 4th and a spring fundraising activity.

    • Members are allowed a total of 3 absences (excused or unexcused)

    • Oklahoma high school student in or going into 9th-12th grade

    • Members selected through application process

    • The mission of GOLD follows and honors the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church. Student participants do not have to be Catholic to join but will be expected to honor the principals and mission of GOLD.

    • Opening Retreat August 17, 2pm – 5pm.

    • 9 monthly meetings, generally the 3rd Sunday of the month, September – May, 3:00-5:00pm

    • Volunteer at the Feast of St. Francis – October 4, 2025.

    1. Application must be submitted by May 19, 2025.

    2. Must be a high school student in the state of Oklahoma.

    3. Members must travel to the GOLD house to attend meetings and may only miss three meetings before being asked to resign from the board.

    4. Members must attend the Mandatory Opening Retreat.
